Contraindications
Contraindications are health related conditions that are not recommended for massage. If any of the following conditions apply to you, please have your Doctor fill out a Physician Permission Form before you receive any bodywork.
Contraindications for All Services:
- Acute Infectious Disease
- Infectious to therapist
- Allergy Symptoms/Skin Rashes - If the area can tear and bleed easily and If the rash can spread through contact.
- Arteriosclerosis
- Blood Clotting
- Bone Fractures
- Cancer - New studies show that cancer may not be contraindicated for massage
- Fever
- Heart Attack
- Hypertension and Heart Conditions
- Kidney Infection
- Loss of Sensation (Numbness)
- Certain Medications
- Osteoporosis
- Peritonitis
- Post-Operative Precautions
- Severe Pain
- Skin Infections
- Skin Lesions, Open Wounds and Sores
- Substance Abuse
- Thrombophlebitis
- Ulcers - Abdominal work
- Varicose Veins
Contraindications for Pregnancy Massage:
- Vaginal Bleeding, Spotting, or Discharge
- Morning Sickness, Nausea, or Vomiting (extreme)
- Extreme Diarrhea
- Abdominal Pains
- Sudden Swelling or Extreme Edema
- Fever
- Rapid Weight Gain
- Blurring Vision
- Decreased Fetal Movement Over a 24 Hour Period
- Placenta Previa
- Toxemia
